In the 1982–83 season, Aston Villa finished 6th in the First Division, maintaining a solid league position but failing to challenge for the title. Their European Cup campaign ended in the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by Juventus. However, Villa did secure silverware, winning the European Super Cup against Barcelona in a dramatic two-legged final. They also reached the sixth round of the FA Cup but were knocked out, and their League Cup run ended in the second round.
