Vitesse is a Dutch sub-topper that has been playing continuously at the highest level in the Netherlands since 1989. For much of this time Vitesse competed in the top of the Eredivisie. In the 1990s, the club played at the top of the Eredivisie. For instance, the club finished fourth in the Dutch league three times in a row in the early 1990s. Which was very admirable as the club promoted to the highest level as recently as 1989.
