US Anconona was founded in 1905 in the city of the same name in eastern Italy. The club reached the third spot in Serie B in 1992, making its debut at the highest level in Italy. In 1994, the club even reached the final of the Copa Italia after beating Venezia and Torino. Unfortunately, the club lost the final to Sampdoria.
