In the 1996-1997 season Andrea Pirlo joined the first team of Brescia, under coach Edoardo Reja , and with 17 appearances and 2 goals he contributed to the promotion of Brescia, who won the Serie B championship . The following season he was continuously deployed in the top league, where he scored 4 goals in 29 appearances, the first of which was in Brescia - LR Vicenza 4-0 on October 19, 1997, when the young Brescia midfielder closed the scoring for the " rondinelle". At the end of the season, Brescia relegated again.
