The 1991–92 season was challenging for Inter Milan. They finished 8th in Serie A, marking their lowest league position since 1975, and failed to qualify for European competitions. Corrado Orrico started as manager but was replaced by Luis Suárez mid-season due to poor results. In the UEFA Cup, Inter were eliminated in the first round by Boavista, and their Coppa Italia campaign ended in the quarter-finals. Jürgen Klinsmann was the team's top scorer, with 7 goals in Serie A and 8 overall.
