In the 1999-2000 season, FC Zwolle finished 2nd in the Eerste Divisie, just missing promotion to the Eredivisie. The team had a solid season with top scorer Dirk Jan Derksen, who netted 28 goals. Another remarkable player in the team, we found out years later when he became trainer, is Arne Slot. In the KNVB Cup, they reached the second round but were eliminated. Under coach Dwight Lodeweges, the club showed consistency, but ultimately fell short of reaching the top spot for promotion. Their overall performance showcased a strong, competitive squad but with room for improvement in their pursuit of Eredivisie football.
