Louis van Gaal became the most successful coach in Ajax's history with his youthful team. Initially unknown to the press and public, Van Gaal had previously worked as an assistant at AZ and Ajax before becoming head coach. During his six years at the club, he led Ajax to three national championships (1993/94, 1994/95, 1995/96), won the KNVB Cup, the UEFA Cup (1991/92), the European Super Cup, and the Dutch Super Cup three times.
