In the summer of 2001, Canal+ acquired 90.8% of PSG, and the club invested heavily to sign José Aloisio, Gabriel Heinze, Cristóbal, Reinaldo, and Hugo Leal. Dominique Casagrande was traded for Jérôme Alonzo. Meanwhile, several key players from previous seasons departed, as most of the ‘PSG Banlieue’ recruits were deemed unsuccessful and pushed out within a year of their arrival. Fabrice Fiorèse joined the squad, along with a returning Jérôme Leroy.
