In the 1994–95 season, Club América, under manager Leo Beenhakker, had a strong start with key signings like François Omam-Biyik and Kalusha Bwalya. The team topped the league table and played exciting football, drawing large crowds. However, a mid-season slump, partly due to international duties and internal conflicts, led to Beenhakker’s sacking. With new manager Mirko Jozic, the team reached the semifinals, but their title hopes ended there with a loss to Cruz Azul. Despite the strong individual performances, they fell short once again.
