In 1997, Porto achieved its first-ever three consecutive league titles, following two consecutive wins under Bobby Robson. This feat was accomplished under the leadership of António Oliveira, who established a strong winning momentum for the club. After these three titles, Porto went on to secure four more in a row. Under the management of Fernando Santos, Porto clinched a fifth consecutive title. In this period, standout players like Zlatko Zahovic and Ljubinko Drulovic led the team, with Mário Jardel emerging as Europe's top scorer in 1999, joining the ranks of Fernando Gomes.
