Manchester City’s 2003–04 season was a turbulent ride under manager Kevin Keegan, marking their debut at the new City of Manchester Stadium. After a promising start—including big wins over Charlton (3–0), Aston Villa (4–1), and Bolton (6–2)—the team’s form collapsed mid-season. A dreadful run saw them win just one of 18 matches, dragging them into a relegation battle. They eventually finished 16th in the Premier League, securing safety with a late-season surge. In cup competitions, City reached the FA Cup fifth round, highlighted by a legendary 4–3 comeback win over Tottenham after trailing 0–3 and going down to ten men. They also exited the League Cup in the fourth round and were eliminated from the UEFA Cup in the second round on away goals after two draws with Groclin. Despite the struggles, Nicolas Anelka was a standout performer, scoring 24 goals in all competitions.
