In June 2007, San Lorenzo won the Clausura 2007 league title, finishing six points ahead of Boca Juniors, despite having lost to them 7-1 in the Apertura 2006. Under manager Ramón Díaz, San Lorenzo secured the title after the 17th round of fixtures, with two games remaining, finishing the tournament with 45 points. Six years later, after facing relegation threats, the club won their 15th league title, the Torneo Inicial 2013.
