The 1998–99 season was one of Parma AC's most successful campaigns. Under manager Alberto Malesani, the club finished 4th in Serie A, securing a Champions League spot. More impressively, Parma won both the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup, defeating Fiorentina and Marseille, respectively.
