Elche’s 2000–01 season was a solid and competitive campaign in the Segunda División, as the club established itself comfortably in Spain’s second tier following promotion in 1999. Playing at the Martínez Valero, Elche combined defensive discipline with a hardworking midfield and finished safely in mid-table. The team was difficult to beat at home and relied on experienced players alongside local talent to remain clear of relegation trouble throughout the season. While they never seriously challenged for promotion, Elche laid important foundations for stability in the coming years and strengthened their position as one of the established clubs in the division.
