In the 1990-1991 season, coach Giuseppe Caramanno was sacked and replaced by Antonio Pasinato, but he too failed to get Vicenza back into Serie B. This goal was achieved two seasons later under Renzo Ulivieri. In 1993-1994, Tuscan coach Ulivieri, despite lacking great strikers, managed to save Vicenza with a team-focused style of play. His successor, Francesco Guidolin, continued this strategy, emphasizing group skills and team play over individual prowess. The following year, strong performances by captain Giovanni Lopez, full-back Gilberto D'Ignazio Pulpito, and centre-half Domenico Di Carlo helped Vicenza return to the top flight, where they finished ninth.
