The 1995/96season was the last in which Johan Cruijff headed the Catalan club. Trainer Johan Cruijff allowed star players such as Ronald Koeman, Romário, Txiki Begiristain and Christo Stoichkov to leave in the summer of 1995and brought Luís Figo and Gheorghe Popescu, among others, to Camp Nou in exchange. President Josep Lluís Núñez criticised the loss of quality and the fact that Cruijff did find room in the selection for his son Jordi and son-in-law Jesús Angoy. In the end, Barcalona finished 3rd in the Spanish league that year. In the UEFA Cup, they reached the semi-finals, but were eliminated by Bayern Munich.Finally, the Copa Del Rey also passed Barcelona in reserve time of the final, losing 1-0 to Atleti.
