Ajax experienced a particularly good start to the 1995-96season. At the expense of earth rival feyenoord, the Dutch Super Cup was won. Two months later, the Continantal Cup was won by beating Brazilian Gremio with Penaltys. And in February, the third cup was lifted by captain Danny Blind, when Ajax beat Real Zaragoza in two games in the European Super Cup. It couldn't be helped then that Ajax's star team also became champions of the Netherlands that season.
