Borussia Dortmund's 1993–94 season marked a phase of stability and growth under legendary manager Ottmar Hitzfeld. The team finished 4th in the Bundesliga, just missing out on a Champions League spot but earning qualification for the UEFA Cup. Throughout the league campaign, Dortmund displayed consistency, racking up 15 wins, 9 draws, and 10 losses—scoring 49 goals and conceding 45.

In European competition, Dortmund made a strong showing in the UEFA Cup, reaching the quarter-finals. While their domestic cup journey ended early with a second-round exit in the DFB-Pokal, their league form kept them among the top sides in Germany.

This season also featured the emergence of several key players who played vital roles both on and off the pitch. Stéphane Chapuisat was a clinical finisher up front, while Michael Zorc commanded the midfield. Matthias Sammer, who would go on to win the Ballon d’Or in 1996, anchored the defense with authority and vision.
