Barcelona secured another league title in the 1992-1993 season, narrowly beating out rivals Real Madrid and Deportivo de la Coruña. Real Madrid's defeat in Tenerife on the final day sealed Barcelona's victory. Additionally, Barcelona clinched the Spanish Super Cup by defeating Atlético de Madrid and won their first European Super Cup against Werder Bremen. However, disappointments came in the European Cup, where they were knocked out by CSKA Moscow in the round of 16, and in the Intercontinental Cup, losing to São Paulo. Real Madrid also eliminated Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinals.

In 1993, Barcelona reinforced their squad by signing Brazilian star Romário and went on to win their fourth consecutive league title. Despite a rollercoaster season, they tied with Deportivo de la Coruña for the league title, ultimately winning it in dramatic fashion when Djukic missed a penalty in the final minute of the last day. Romário emerged as the league's top scorer with 30 goals and played a key role in Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Real Madrid at Camp Nou. In the Copa del Rey, Barcelona suffered a surprising defeat to second division side Betis in the quarterfinals. Their European Cup campaign ended in disappointment as they reached the final but were defeated 4-0 by AC Milan in Athens.
