FC Porto’s 2006–07 season was a triumphant return to domestic dominance. Under new manager Jesualdo Ferreira, the club won its 22nd Primeira Liga title, finishing one point ahead of rivals Sporting CP. The team played attacking football, scoring 65 goals and conceding just 20, with standout performances from Ricardo Quaresma and Lucho González. They also lifted the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, beating Vitória de Setúbal 3–0. In Europe, Porto advanced from the Champions League group stage, finishing second behind Arsenal. However, they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Chelsea, managed by former Porto boss José Mourinho, in a tight 3–2 aggregate loss. Despite an early exit in the Taça de Portugal, the season was considered a success, laying the foundation for continued dominance in Portuguese football.
