Since the appointment of none other than Arsene Wenger as coach in the 1990s, the club became a candidate for the championship. Wenger won the Emperor's Cup in 1995 in Nagoya, which gave the club its first major national prize. In 96, the club finished second in the J-League, but it was not until 2010 that Nagoya Grampus would celebrate its first championship in the J-League. In the late 1990s, 15-time Japan international Mochizuki played in this Jersey. The midfielder played the first four years of his career with Grampus Eight and also won the Emperor's Cup with that club in 1999. The first time the club won that award was in 1995.
