Since the appointment of none other than Arsene Wenger as coach in the 1990s, the club became a candidate for the championship. Wenger won the Emperor's Cup in 1995 in Nagoya, which gave the club its first major national prize. In 96, the club finished second in the J-League, but it was not until 2010 that Nagoya Grampus would celebrate its first championship in the J-League. One of the base players that season was one-time Japan international Naoshi Nakamura. The midfielder played in this Jersey in the 2007 season. He played his entire career for Grampus Eight in which he made almost 350 appearances in 13 years.
