The 1992–93 season was a rebuilding phase for Red Star Belgrade following their European Cup triumph two years earlier. With many stars having departed, the club leaned on emerging talents like Dejan Petković, Ilija Ivic, and Anto Drobnjak. They remained competitive domestically, finishing near the top of the Yugoslav league, and continued to develop a new generation of players despite the political and economic challenges facing the region. In 1993–94, Red Star maintained their status as one of Serbia’s top clubs, finishing strongly in the league and reaching the latter stages of the domestic cup. The squad featured a mix of youth and experience, with Petković continuing to shine in midfield, while Drobnjak and Zvonko Milojević played key roles in attack and goal respectively. Though European competition was limited due to sanctions, the club’s passionate fanbase and iconic Marakana stadium kept the spirit alive.
