In the 1990–91 season, Tottenham Hotspur finished 10th in the First Division, but their biggest achievement was winning the FA Cup, securing their eighth title in the competition. Managed by Terry Venables, Spurs had a mixed league campaign, starting strong but struggling in the second half of the season. However, their FA Cup run was impressive, culminating in a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in the final. This triumph also secured their place in the 1991–92 European Cup Winners' Cup, marking their return to European competition after the Heysel ban. In the 1991–92 season, Tottenham Hotspur finished 15th in the First Division, struggling with inconsistency throughout the campaign. Despite their league difficulties, they reached the semi-finals of the League Cup and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, where they were eliminated by Feyenoord. This season also marked the departure of Gary Lineker, who confirmed in November that he would leave for Japan at the end of the season. His 28 league goals made him the club’s top scorer, and he was voted Football Writers' Footballer of the Year.
