In the 1989–90 season, FC Bayern Munich, managed by Jupp Heynckes, won their 11th Bundesliga title, finishing first with 49 points. They reached the semi-finals of the European Cup, losing narrowly to AC Milan, and were runners-up in the DFB-Supercup.
