In the 1991–92 season, AS Roma finished fifth in Serie A, securing their place as the top club from the capital but struggling with 14 draws that kept them from a higher finish, just three points behind third-placed Torino. Managed by Ottavio Bianchi, the team also reached the quarter-finals of both the Coppa Italia and the European Cup Winners' Cup while finishing as runners-up in the Supercoppa Italiana. Key players included goalkeeper Giovanni Cervone, defenders Aldair and Sebastiano Nela, midfielders Giuseppe Giannini and Thomas Häßler, and forwards Ruggiero Rizzitelli and Rudi Völler. Völler was the top scorer in Serie A with 7 goals, while Rizzitelli led overall with 12 goals. The team played their home matches at the Stadio Olimpico.
