In the 1997 Copa América, Brazil claimed their fifth continental title with a commanding campaign under coach Mário Zagallo. The Seleção won all six of their matches, culminating in a 3–1 victory over Bolivia in the final held in La Paz — a historic feat as it marked Brazil’s first Copa América title won outside their own country.

The team combined flair with efficiency, scoring 22 goals and conceding just 6. Ronaldo was the tournament’s standout star, scoring 5 goals and forming a lethal partnership with Romário until the latter withdrew due to injury.
