Heerenveen’s 2000–01 season under Foppe de Haan was defined by stability, discipline and long stretches of controlled, cautious football. The team finished 10th in the Eredivisie, drawing an unusually high number of matches (14) and often relying on structure rather than explosiveness. They were solid at home in the Abe Lenstra Stadion and produced a few standout results — including a 6–1 win over Fortuna Sittard, a 5–0 victory against NEC, and a spectacular 6–1 away win at Willem II. Anthony Lurling was the most influential outfield player, while Hans Vonk provided reliability in goal. Heerenveen weren’t as dynamic as in their peak years around 1999–2000, but they remained competitive, organised and difficult to beat, laying groundwork for stronger seasons to come.
