Arsenal's fan-favorite David Rocastle was sold to Leeds for £2 million, while manager George Graham signed Danish hero John Jensen from Bröndby for £1.1 million. In February 1993, Graham re-signed Martin Keown from Everton for £2 million, though Keown was cup-tied and couldn't participate in cup matches. While Arsenal struggled in the league, finishing in a disappointing tenth place and averaging less than a goal per game, they transformed into a strong cup team, winning both domestic cups that season. Their early November league position was promising, but they couldn't maintain it. Their cup victories secured European qualification for the Cup Winners Cup, setting the stage for future success. The season also marked the end of long-serving defender David O'Leary's career at Arsenal, who holds the record for the most appearances at the club (722). Throughout the season, the stadium was under reconstruction to meet new safety regulations, with a mural covering the old North Bank terrace. This mural drew criticism for initially lacking diversity in its depiction of fans, a mistake that was later corrected. Despite reduced capacity to 29,000, home games were consistently sold out.
