The 1993–94 season marked Aston Villa's 6th consecutive season in the Premier League. Asics was the kit supplier, and Müller served as the shirt sponsor.Aston Villa fell short of the title race that had seemed within reach the previous year, finishing 10th in the table after coming in second the season before. This decline was primarily due to a lack of goals. However, they found consolation in winning the League Cup final against Manchester United, securing a 3–1 victory that dashed United’s hopes of becoming the first English team to win all three major domestic trophies in a single season. In the League Cup second round, Villa faced Birmingham City. This match marked the only Second City derby in a 14-year span, beginning with the 1988–89 season, during which Villa won all three encounters 13–0 on aggregate, until the 2002–03 season. The season also saw debuts for Andy Townsend, Graham Fenton, and Guy Whittingham.
