The season kicked off for national champions Ajax with a commanding 3-0 victory over Feijenoord in the Super Cup at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. Jari Litmanen, Tarik Oulida, and debutant Patrick Kluivert were the goal scorers. Ajax continued their winning streak with a 2-0 triumph against AC Milan in mid-September, despite Milan facing challenges with suspensions and injuries. However, their momentum was halted with a draw against Roda JC, who later became the only team to secure a draw against Ajax in Amsterdam that season. In the KNVB Cup, Ajax progressed past FC Den Bosch and N.E.C. but were eliminated in the quarter-finals by eventual winners Feyenoord. Ajax set a premier league record by remaining unbeaten in 31 consecutive matches, becoming the first club to achieve this feat for an entire season. In the Champions League, Ajax topped Group D, defeating AC Milan twice 2-0 to advance to the knockout phase. They continued their impressive run by defeating Hajduk Split 3-0 in the quarter-finals and FC Bayern Munich 5-2 in the semi-finals. In the final in Vienna, Ajax faced AC Milan once again, securing a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal in the 86th minute by substitute Kluivert. A notable moment was Louis van Gaal's karate kick celebration, mimicking an action by Marcel Desailly against Jari Litmanen. Ajax's success in both the Eredivisie and Champions League allowed them to compete for two Supercups and the World Cup. They won the Dutch Super Cup against Feyenoord and the UEFA Super Cup against Real Zaragoza. In late November 1995, Ajax clinched the FIFA World Cup after a penalty shootout draw against Brazil's Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense.
