Borussia stayed true to its motto by making significant investments in the team, including the signings of Andreas Möller and Júlio César from Juventus. In the DFB Cup, the team was eliminated in the second round at the Fritz Walter Stadium, losing 6-3 after extra time to 1. FC Kaiserslautern, with nine different players getting on the scoresheet. The 1994/95 Bundesliga season proved to be more successful, as BVB clinched the title on the final matchday, finishing ahead of Werder Bremen. This marked BVB's first national championship in 32 years, celebrated by tens of thousands of fans on the pitch at Westfalenstadion. The day after their victory, players and coaches were greeted by over 500,000 supporters in the streets, marking the largest championship celebration in German football history. Borussia Dortmund also won the title in the 1995/96 season, securing it on matchday 33 with a 2-2 draw against TSV 1860 München.
