In the 1997–98 season, Inter Milan, managed by Luigi Simoni, finished second in Serie A and won the UEFA Cup. They mounted a strong title challenge but were narrowly beaten to the championship by Juventus. Inter also triumphed in the UEFA Cup, defeating Lazio 3–0 in the final. The team’s standout player was Ronaldo, who scored 34 goals across all competitions. Despite falling short in the league, the season marked significant progress, with new signings like Diego Simeone and Francesco Moriero strengthening the squad.
