Juventus Football Club secured the league title for the first time in nine years, a triumph overshadowed by the tragic passing of defender Andrea Fortunato from cancer during the season. The Scudetto victory was dedicated to the 23-year-old, who had become a key player in the starting lineup before falling ill.

This Serie A triumph, the first since the 1985–86 season, was complemented by a Coppa Italia triumph over Parma. Juventus emerged victorious in both legs, winning 1–0 at the Stadio delle Alpi and 2–0 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

In the UEFA Cup final, Juventus faced Parma once again, having previously defeated Borussia Dortmund. However, this time, Juventus suffered defeat against Parma (0–1, 1–1), denying them a potential season treble.
