Following a disappointing season, PSG underwent significant squad changes in the summer of 1999, releasing several players brought in the previous year. They brought in new signings such as Ali Benarbia, Laurent Robert, and Christian. Captain Marco Simone departed for AS Monaco due to ongoing issues with Charles Biétry. The 1999-2000 season proved successful for PSG, maintaining a podium position throughout and finishing second in the league. The season's only setback was losing the Coupe de la Ligue final to FC Gueugnon.
