Regarded as the club's prime era, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched nine trophies and made five consecutive appearances in European semi-finals throughout the 1990s. This included their inaugural UEFA Champions League last-four appearance and two in the same stage of the UEFA Cup. PSG's pinnacle moment arrived in the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final under the leadership of legend Luis Fernandez, now serving as coach. Bruno Ngotty's sole goal secured victory over Rapid Wien, making PSG the second French club to ever secure a major European tournament. Notably, PSG became the youngest club in history to claim a European title, achieving this feat at just 26 years of age. On the domestic front, PSG finished second in Division 1, trailing Auxerre by four points.
