Udinese's 1990–91 season was a strong campaign in Serie B, built around the creativity of Francesco Dell'Anno and the goals of Abel Balbo. Dell'Anno made 34 appearances and scored 5 goals, serving as the team's attacking playmaker and supplying chances for Balbo, who finished as the club's leading scorer. Despite performing well on the pitch and remaining in the promotion race, Udinese failed to achieve promotion, with a points deduction proving decisive. The season nevertheless established Dell'Anno as one of the team's key figures and highlighted the quality of a squad capable of competing near the top of Serie B.
