Milan enjoyed perhaps the greatest season in its history, winning three trophies, highlighted by a 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona in the Champions League Final in Athens. Known for their defensive play throughout the league season, Milan's attacking prowess shone in this memorable game. They won Serie A for the third consecutive time, scoring only 36 goals in 34 games but conceding just 15, thanks to a formidable defense led by Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini.

On 1 May 1994, Milan faced struggling Reggiana at San Siro on the same day Formula One driver Ayrton Senna tragically died. Despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Reggiana, Milan secured their 13th Scudetto. This season is widely regarded as one of the best in football history.

Notably, this season did not feature contributions from the famed Dutch trio of Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, and Frank Rijkaard. Van Basten missed the entire season due to an ankle injury, while Gullit and Rijkaard transferred out of the club during pre-season.
