In the 1995–96 season, Empoli competed in Serie C1 and finished 3rd in their group, earning promotion to Serie B after winning the play-offs. Managed by Piero Pelagotti and later Luciano Spalletti, the team showed resilience throughout the campaign. Empoli also won the Coppa Italia Serie C, adding silverware to their successful season.
