Manchester City’s 1990/91 season in the First Division was a strong campaign, finishing 5th under Howard Kendall, who left in November to return to Everton, with Peter Reid taking over as player-manager. They exited the FA Cup in the fifth round, the League Cup in the third round, and the Full Members' Cup in the fourth round, but their league performance marked a significant improvement. In the 1991–92 season, Manchester City finished 5th in the Football League First Division under manager Peter Reid. This was their second consecutive 5th-place finish. They achieved 20 wins, 10 draws, and 12 losses, with top scorer David White netting 22 goals across all competitions. The team's overall solid performance earned them a respectable league position, though they were unable to challenge for promotion to the top spots. They were also eliminated early from cup competitions, including the FA Cup and League Cup.
