Manchester City’s 1990/91 season in the First Division was a strong campaign, finishing 5th under Howard Kendall, who left in November to return to Everton, with Peter Reid taking over as player-manager. City spent much of the season near the top of the table, showing attacking strength with Niall Quinn as their top scorer, netting 21 goals in all competitions. They exited the FA Cup in the fifth round, the League Cup in the third round, and the Full Members' Cup in the fourth round, but their league performance marked a significant improvement. In the 1991–92 season, Manchester City finished 5th in the Football League First Division under manager Peter Reid. This was their second consecutive 5th-place finish. They achieved 20 wins, 10 draws, and 12 losses, with top scorer David White netting 22 goals across all competitions. The team's overall solid performance earned them a respectable league position, though they were unable to challenge for promotion to the top spots. They were also eliminated early from cup competitions, including the FA Cup and League Cup.
