PSG’s 2003–04 season was a dramatic turnaround under manager Vahid Halilhodžić, finishing 2nd in Ligue 1 after placing 11th the year before. Led by the prolific Pauleta, who scored 18 league goals and 23 overall, the team played dynamic football and boasted a strong defense, conceding just 28 goals in 38 matches. Their home ground, Parc des Princes, saw an average attendance of nearly 39,000, with a season-high of 42,502 against Lyon.

The highlight came in the Coupe de France, where PSG lifted the trophy after a 1–0 win over Châteauroux in the final. They also reached the second round of the Coupe de la Ligue, but were eliminated by Gueugnon on penalties. The squad featured a mix of seasoned internationals like Gabriel Heinze, Juan Pablo Sorín, and Modeste M'Bami, alongside emerging talents such as Lorik Cana and Danijel Ljuboja.
