In the 1989–90 season, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) experienced not a great seaosn, finishing 5th in the league and delivering a bittersweet performance in the UEFA Cup. They narrowly overcame Kuusysi in the first round but came close to eliminating eventual champions Juventus in the second round. Prior to the season, PSG signed a partnership with Nike as their new kit manufacturer, marking the beginning of a new era. Additionally, promising talent Daniel Bravo joined the club, becoming a key player in PSG's successful period during the 1990s. However, the season also saw the departure of Jean-Marc Pilorget, who bid farewell after 14 years and a club record 435 appearances.
